2/12/2019 - Winter Accumulation - Weather Information Bulletin

A winter weather advisory is in effect for our area from Tuesday 6am to Wednesday 8am. Mixed precipitation is expected along with periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with some ice accumulations. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes. Expect slippery roads and limited visibility at times of precipitation. Use caution while driving. DPW has brined the roadways in anticipation of the winter weather.

If you are able to park in your driveway, please do so to assist in the street cleaning process. Street parking will make it extremely difficult for plows to maneuver through streets due to accumulation.

We encourage residents to keep an eye on the weather.

During the snowfall, the Police and Public Works Departments will be working to enforce snow parking restrictions as per City Ordinance § 25-21 Parking During Snow Accumulation. The following streets are not to be parked on while streets are snow covered:

The City will offer parking in Liberty School Parking Lot, Mackay Park parking lot on the Englewood Avenue side, Gatehouse parking lot on the Englewood Avenue side, Veteran’s Lot, and Lot C.

These parking lots will be available to residents with the understanding that once you park, the lot will not be cleared until the primary roadways are properly addressed.

The Police Department will ensure that the ordinance is enforced which may be subject tickets, tows and/or fines.

For your safety, The Fire Department would like anyone with property on or adjacent to a fire-hydrant to please assist by shoveling around the hydrant to insure access in case of emergency.
