Jones Road northbound and Route 4 westbound to be closed and detoured for two weekends in Englewood
Route 4 eastbound left lane also to be closed

(Trenton) – Jones Road northbound and Route 4 westbound are scheduled to be closed and detoured tomorrow night, Friday, October 18 and again Saturday night, October 19 as the bridge replacement project advances in Englewood, Bergen County. In addition, the left lane on Route 4 eastbound will be closed tomorrow night and Saturday night. The roadway and lane closures are necessary for the demolition of the Jones Road Bridge over Route 4.

The closures of Jones Road northbound and Route 4 westbound, as well as the left lane closure on Route 4 eastbound, are expected to continue overnight next weekend on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. NJDOT will provide advanced notice prior to future closures.

Jones Road northbound Closure
Beginning at 10 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, October 18 until 9 a.m. Saturday, October 19, and again from 10 p.m. Saturday, October 19 until 9 a.m. Sunday, October 20, Jones Road northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured at the Bridge over Route 4. The following detour will be in place:

Jones Road northbound Detour:
• Motorists on Jones Road northbound will be directed to Edgewood Road
• Turn left onto Nordhoff Drive
• Turn right onto Grandview Terrace
• Turn right onto Hillside Avenue
• Turn right onto Broad Avenue
• Turn right onto Van Nostrand Avenue
• Turn left onto Jones Road

Route 4 westbound Closure
Beginning at 10:30 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, October 18 until 8 a.m. Saturday, October 19, and again from 10:30 p.m. Saturday, October 19 until 9 a.m. Sunday, October 20, Route 4 westbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured underneath the Jones Road Bridge over Route 4. The following detours will be in place:

Route 4 westbound Detour:
• Motorists on Route 4 westbound will be directed to take the ramp to Jones Road/All Turns
• Turn right onto Jones Road northbound
• Turn left onto Van Nostrand Avenue
• Turn left onto Grand Avenue
• Turn right to take the ramp to Route 4 westbound

Route 4 westbound from the George Washington Bridge Detour:
• Motorists on the George Washington Bridge wishing to take Route 4 westbound will be directed to continue on I-95 southbound/New Jersey Turnpike
• Take Exit 69 to I-80 westbound to New Jersey Turnpike/Paterson
• Take Exit 64A to Route 4/Route 17/Rochelle Park/Paramus
• Continue on Route 17 northbound
• Take the ramp to Route 4 eastbound/Fort Lee/New York
Or
• Take the ramp to Garden State Parkway South/Ikea Drive/G S Plaza, back to Route 4 westbound

Route 4 westbound from the George Washington Bridge Local Detour:
• Motorists on the George Washington Bridge wishing to take Route 4 westbound will be directed to continue on I-95 southbound/New Jersey Turnpike
• Take Exit 70 to Leonia/Teaneck
• Turn left onto Glenwood Avenue
• Turn right onto Degraw Avenue
• Turn right onto Teaneck Road, back to Route 4

Route 4 eastbound Left Lane Closure
Beginning at 10:30 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, October 18 until 8 a.m. Saturday, October 19, and again from 10:30 p.m. Saturday, October 19 until 9 a.m. Sunday, October 20, the left lane on Route 4 eastbound will be closed on Friday night and Saturday night at the same times. At least one lane will remain open on Route 4 eastbound during construction.

The $20.7 million federally funded project will replace the Jones Road Bridge over Route 4 in Englewood, Bergen County. The new bridge will be approximately three feet higher to improve under-clearance issues on Route 4. Work is expected to be completed in summer 2025.
