Grand Avenue and Van Nostrand Avenue Intersection closed tonight in Englewood, Bergen County
Route 4 westbound ramp to Grand Avenue northbound also to be closed
(Trenton) – The intersection at Grand Avenue and Van Nostrand Avenue is scheduled to be closed and detoured tonight as the Jones Road over Route 4 bridge replacement project advances in Englewood, Bergen County. In addition, the ramp from Route 4 westbound to Grand Avenue northbound will also be closed. The intersection and ramp closures are necessary to pave and restripe the intersection.
Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, April 30 until 5 a.m. Thursday, May 1, the Grand Avenue-Van Nostrand Avenue Intersection is scheduled to be closed and detoured to repave and restripe the intersection. In addition, the Route 4 westbound ramp to Grand Avenue northbound will be closed Friday night at the same time. All other ramps at the Route 4-Grand Avenue Interchange will remain open during construction. The following detours will be in place:
Route 4 westbound to Grand Avenue northbound Detour:
- Motorists on Route 4 westbound wishing to take the ramp to Grand Avenue northbound will be directed to the ramp to Van Brunt Street/Englewood/Englewood South Industrial Park
- Continue on Van Brunt Street
- Turn right onto West Forest Avenue, back to Grand Avenue northbound
Grand Avenue northbound Detour:
- Motorists on Grand Avenue northbound will be directed to turn right onto Rockwood Place
- Turn left onto Broad Avenue
- Turn left onto Madison Avenue
- Turn right onto Grand Avenue northbound
Van Nostrand Avenue eastbound:
- Motorists on Dean Street wishing to take Van Nostrand Avenue eastbound will be directed to Rockwood Place
- Turn right onto Grand Avenue southbound
- Turn left onto Sheffield Avenue
- Turn left onto Broad Avenue, back to Van Nostrand Avenue
Van Nostrand Avenue eastbound to Grand Avenue northbound Detour:
- Motorists on Dean Street wishing to take Van Nostrand Avenue eastbound to Grand Avenue will be directed to Rockwood Place
- Turn right onto Grand Avenue southbound
- Turn left onto Sheffield Avenue
- Turn left onto Broad Avenue
- Turn left onto Madison Avenue
- Turn right onto Grand Avenue northbound
Van Nostrand Avenue eastbound to Grand Avenue southbound Detour:
- Motorists on Dean Street wishing to take Van Nostrand Avenue eastbound to Grand Avenue will be directed to Rockwood Place
- Turn right onto Grand Avenue southbound
Van Nostrand Avenue westbound to Grand Avenue northbound Detour:
- Motorists on Van Nostrand Avenue westbound wishing to turn right onto Grand Avenue northbound will be directed to turn right onto Broad Avenue
- Turn left onto Madison Avenue
- Turn right onto Grand Avenue northbound
Van Nostrand Avenue westbound to Grand Avenue southbound Detour:
- Motorists on Van Nostrand Avenue westbound wishing to turn left onto Grand Avenue southbound will be directed to turn left onto Broad Avenue
- Turn right onto Sheffield Avenue
- Turn left onto Grand Avenue southbound
The $20.7 million federally funded project will replace the Jones Road Bridge over Route 4 in Englewood, Bergen County. The new bridge will be approximately three feet higher to improve under-clearance issues on Route 4. Work is expected to be completed in summer 2025.
